Garbage Disposal Wall Switch Wiring

You can use any kind of switch for your garbage disposal as long as it has set on and off positions.

Loop the exposed end of the 12 3 cable s red wire around the brass screw. Wire in the switch with the black wires only. The red wire powers the garbage disposal s outlet when you turn the switch on. The black wire from the power source will go on the bottom screw.

Running the electrical circuit to power that garbage disposal is another matter however. If you do not already have the necessary switch controlled wall receptacle outlet adding this wiring is a job best done by a licensed electrician since it involves running cable and making connections at the main service panel.
